Bríd Mackey
Brid’s path to becoming a trusted experience designer wasn’t the most traditional. Having first studied architecture at degree level, it wasn’t until five years later, as a mature student, that Bríd looked towards a career in IT - graduating with first class honors.
Starting out her career as a junior developer, Brid’s love of math, art and design helped her naturally transition from a developer role into user experience and interaction. It’s her user-centered approach to all aspects of problem solving, design, testing and iterating solutions - with the end customer’s needs in mind - that have brought her recognition, not just within her peer group, but with customers as well.
Laura Hilliger, concept architect, open strategist and design lead at Greenpeace said:
“Brid is a knowledgeable and capable facilitator, thinker and designer. Her inclusive attitude makes everyone in the room feel like part of the community, and her openness to feedback and constructive criticism reveals her to be a true design professional. She can think on her feet, is transparent about her methods and a genuine good spirited person who moves things forward. She's definitely an innovative rising star.”
Outside of Brid’s day-to-day work, she has taken the time to speak at events such as Women in Tech and local educational communities. She is committed to her position as a role model, and actively encourages more students - both male and female - to consider a career in the IT industry.
Bríd resides in the ‘sunny’ South East of Ireland, with her partner, three rescue dogs and two cats.
